PROPOSALS to build a house on an existing residential estate in Christchurch have been refused.
The plans to add a semi-detached property to two existing houses to create a terrace of three dwellings at Poppy Close, in Highcliffe, were turned down by members of Christchurch Borough Council's planning committee.
A planning officer had recommended the scheme for approval, however councillors went against this recommendation and refused the development.
At the meeting, West Highcliffe ward councillor Trish Jamieson, who called the plans in for committee decision, said: "The extension will create a terrace which is completely out of keeping with the current style of properties.
"This is certainly overdevelopment and should not be permitted."
