1. A new musical based on the songs of Prince visits the Pavilion tonight. Purple Rain is a live celebration of the late star’s music.

2. Million Dollar Quartet (musical based on an impromptu jam session involving Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins, and Johnny Cash in 1956) starts at the Lighthouse tomorrow for a five night run.

3. The Great Dorset Arts & Crafts Fair takes place this weekend at Upton House & Upton Country Park from 11am – 4pm. £1.50 per adult, children free

4. Alison Moyet, the singer, who shot to fame in the ‘80s with songs like All Cried Out, returns to the Pavilion on Thursday.

5. If you dream of getting all your Christmas shopping wrapped up under one roof, visit the Christmas Wonderland Market at Lighthouse, Poole this Saturday and Sunday.

6. Feelgood band Scouting For Girls will be bringing some joy to the O2 Academy Bournemouth on Friday.

7. To celebrate the start of the Christmas festivities there will be a special switch on event on Friday from 6.30pm onwards at The Triangle. The focal point will be a large illuminated teddy bear. There will also be fireworks and live entertainment.

8. Brand new for 2017 is an Alpine market that will transform the town centre into a winter wonderland.

9. Skate on real ice under the stars in the pleasure gardens. This year there are two extra features: Rinky Dinks, a separate ice rink just for small children and their parents and Gliders, an ice bowling team game. The Moguls café-bar sees a selection of winter warmers like hot chocolate with marshmallows and cream for all to enjoy.
