MORE than 150 runners took part in the annual Christchurch Running Festival last weekend.
The event, organised by Two Riversmeet Leisure Centre, proved to be a success with more than 150 people completing the 10k and 50 children taking part in the 1k fun run.
The 10k route took in more local scenery than previously.
Cllr Nick Geary, Mayor of Christchurch started both races at Stanpit Marsh Recreation Ground.
He said “There was a great atmosphere at the event this year. I was especially pleased to see so many young people take part in the fun run and it’s great that Two Riversmeet continue to encourage young people to get fit and active.
“I would like to thank all the volunteers that helped the event run so smoothly- without the support of the local community we couldn’t have put on such a great event.
“Well done to everyone who took part, including my wife Gillian, and huge congratulations to all the winners.”
