LITTLE ones wished upon a star and saw their fairy dreams come true at a truly magical summer holiday show at Christchurch’s Regent Centre.

Once Upon A Princess transported them on a sparkly journey with their favourite storybook princesses.

And the glittering royalty were brought up to date with the addition of pop party hits from Little Mix, Jess Glynne and Olly Murs.

The audience, many dressed in pretty princess regalia, bopped along to Dolly Parton and Michael Buble songs as well as enjoying musical classics from West End and Broadway shows including Matilda, Shrek, Hairspray, We Will Rock You and Annie.

Carl Tracey from Nickelodeon’s Nick Jr was the star of the show and performed alongside a talented cast including Christchurch's very own Ally Cox, who played magic maker Fairy Muddled.

The young audience members were thrilled to help the fairy sort out the fairyland library books, which had got muddled up.

As they helped her put the pages back in the right books, they followed the clues to see who Prince Charming was going to marry.

And his eventual bride Rapunzel was a popular choice This is the second year the show has come to Christchurch and, judging by the reaction of the audience, it won’t be the last.

The icing on the cake for the children was the opportunity to meet the real-life princesses in the foyer at the end of the show.

Once Upon A Princess continues today (Tues August 15) with performances at 2pm and 6pm. This is a real school holiday treat – don’t miss it.
