RESIDENTS objecting to plans to build three houses on the site of one property in Walkford will get a decision on the scheme this week.

Twenty four objections have been made over a proposal to build the three bungalows in Amberwood Drive, Walkford in Christchurch.

The plans are being recommended for approval at this Thursday's council planning committee.

But residents have raised concerns about the proposal for the location, which already has two recently built bungalows on site.

The proposed units would form a group of five houses at the end of the private drive, a report to the committee states.

Issues raised by the objecting residents include overdevelopment, the impact on neighbouring houses, the loss of light and privacy, noise and disturbance and highway safety.

They are also concerned about inadequate parking, limitations to access for emergency vehicles and the loss of existing trees.

In the report to Christchurch planning committee, officers say the application has attracted "a significant level of public comment".

And while they accept the scheme would result in an increased density of development, the "fundamental characteristics" of the site mean officers believe this would not have an adverse affect on general amenities.

The planning committee will take place on Thursday at 6pm.
