A CHRISTCHURCH junior school could add two extra classrooms to cope with an increase in pupil numbers.

Mudeford Junior School is applying for planning permission to expand and build two extra modular classrooms.

The school is at or overcapacity in all year groups with several classrooms undersized, a planning statement says.

The school, on Mudeford Lane, is short of small group rooms for individual learning and special needs support.

The undersized classrooms will be used to form part of the link between the new and old buildings.

It is also proposed to build a front extension to the school, in order to provide a school office and secure lobby.

The new classrooms will be built on part of the school field which is not suitable for formal games.

Christchurch Borough Council will decide the proposal under delegated powers.
