A SINGER-songwriter from Christchurch will be hoping to impress Take That star Gary Barlow on the new television talent show Let It Shine.
Ryan Butterworth has fended off competition from thousands of young men to reach the auditions, which will be screened tonight at 7pm on BBC One.
It is the former Bournemouth University student’s biggest gig to date. Last year, he helped raise money for Dorset Mind with his charity single Beating Heart.
The previous year he made waves with his debut single, Oceans, which received extensive airplay on BBC Radio Solent and Forest FM.
His dad, Adrian, said appearing on Let It Shine was a “great opportunity” for Ryan.
“It’s amazing. He’s gone right from being among 10,000 others when he applied for the show to appearing on the televised auditions, which is fantastic.”
