OLD pictures of Christchurch dating back as far as 1925 will feature in an exhibition to be held in the town later this month.

Hosted by Stephen Bath, the exhibition will be held at All Insured in the Saxon Centre from 6pm until 7.30pm on Wednesday January 25.

Aerial pictures of the town dating from 1925 to 1953 will be among the exhibits as will old pictures of Mudeford Quay and Mudeford Sandbank.

They will sit alongside more up-to-date images of the town, covering areas including the Priory, river, town centre and beach.

Mr Bath, the former joint owner of Bath Travel, said he has been taking pictures for 35 years but this is his first exhibition.

He said: "I have pictures on display in various galleries in the town but there are only one or two at each venue. This exhibition will have around 25 pictures."

Mr Bath did not reveal where the old pictures came from but added: "I am delighted with the quality of the photographs, some of which are nearly 100-years-old."

He said the large images are up to 6ft x 4ft each and members of the public are welcome to attend the exhibition free of charge.
