A FORMER day nursery in Christchurch which has been lying empty for more than eight years could be turned into flats.
Permission has been granted to turn the former Amethyst Day Nursery building on Somerford Road in Christchurch into six apartments.
The business closed suddenly in August 2008 leaving children without childcare and staff jobless.
The building has remained empty since.
Plans for the building include external alterations and construction of a third storey as well as landscaping plans.
Christchurch council granted permission for the scheme at the end of December.
Highways officials said they wanted to see cycle parking facilities constructed before anyone moves into the accommodation.
No objections were received from members of the public.
