A VINTAGE bike ride will take place in Christchurch as part of a family fun day.

The Christchurch Vintage Bicycle Ride will be held in September as part of the town's family fun day.

People are encouraged to wear their best vintage clothes for the ride on Saturday September 17, with around 200 people set to take part.

There will be a chance to stop for a tea break at Mudeford Harbour before returning to Christchurch Quay for a picnic.

The leisurely ride begins at 12:30pm at Christchurch Quay and registration opens at 10am.

Starting from Christchurch Quay, the 12km route will cycle through Christchurch and Mudeford.

The tea break will be provided by the Christchurch Harbour Hotel, before cyclists head back to Christchurch Quay for a yummy mini-Afternoon Tea from the Captain’s Club Hotel.

The event is in aid of The Bournemouth Hospital Charity and CODA Music.

During the cycle, marshals will ride along with you and direct you through intersections.

There will be some off-road bicycle paths but the route is easy one and suitable for all cycling abilities.

Families are welcome.

Event chair, Christina Pengelly, said: “We’re delighted that people are signing-up to join us with their bicycles and planning to dress in their finest tartan, tweed and vintage regalia on a celebration of style over lycra, and join in the fun on our jolly bike ride.”

Prizes will be presented for Best Dressed Bicycle, Best Dressed Woman, Man, Child, Best Dressed Group and Best Dressed Moustache.

Tickets are £10 per adult, £8 children (under 12 years), £34 for family of four.
