A CHRISTCHURCH-based company has launched a search for a charity which could benefit from around £30,000 in fundraising.

Every year, telecomms provider 4Com choose a charity to benefit from their summer fundraising activities. Last year the Amelia-Grace Rainbow Fund was chosen, and used the money for the provision of a new holiday home for families with children who were suffering from terminal, chronic or life-limiting illnesses.

Forty members of 4Com are taking part in Tough Mudder South-West in August with all money raised going to the worthy cause.

Dean Cartledge, 4Com director and head of the 4Com Foundation, said: "The successful charity will be the one that shows how the money will go to a specific cause, benefitting a wide number of people. We’ll also give preference to causes or charities in our local area."

He added that over £30,000 was raised from last year's event and they are hoping to collect as much as possible for the benefit of others.

"We’ve got a history here of surpassing our previous bests, so we’re hopeful of raising even more money this year for what I’m sure will be another incredible cause.

"It’s not just about the Tough Mudder, we’ll also be doing dress down days and holding raffles and auctions for donated prizes with all proceeds going to the chosen charity."

Over the past 12 months, the 4Com Foundation has donated almost £70,000 to charitable causes including being able to hand over the keys to a third minibus to Linwood School in Winton.

Earlier this year, 4Com was included in the Sunday Times list of the Top 100 Places to Work, employing over 260 staff who work in the head office near Bournemouth Airport as well as field based sales, engineering and support teams

Applications will close on the morning of Monday, June 13, at which point six finalists will be selected by 4Com Foundation's committee. The finalists will then be put forward for a staff vote, with the winner being declared on Friday, June 17.
