HAVE you seen this red seagull? The Daily Echo has been contacted by several residents in the Christchurch area reporting seeing the crimson coloured bird.
Staff at aerospace company Curtiss-Wright, based on Airfield Road, spotted it on top of an industrial building at 6am this morning.
Employee Ken Hart said the bird seemed to be perfectly happy and not in any discomfort.
“It was bounding around with the other birds,” he said. “When my colleague told me he’d seen a red gull I thought the coffee he’d been drinking must’ve been too strong for him.”
On Friday resident Jeremy Clarke spotted the red bird in Mudeford on a neighbour’s roof as he was sitting down for breakfast.
“It looked like a gull,” he said. “I’ve never seen anything quite like it so I went to grab my camera.
“I’ve tried looking it up on the internet but can’t find an explanation of what it is.”
He reported the sighting to the RSPCA.
The appearance of the red bird comes after a pink pigeon was spotted flying around Bournemouth in May.
