Not Mudeford's most expensive hut ever - but it still costs more than a house

The simple timber hut is one of the priciest on the desirable Mudeford Spit ever to come on the market.

The quaint 150 sq ft cabin commands spectacular views across Christchurch Harbour and comes kitted out with a working kitchen, running water and electricity provided by solar panels.

It doesn't front onto the beach - but the new owners will get their own sun terrace and sandpit.

However for the same price, buyers could purchase a modern five-bedroom detached house with its own private garden in Leeds.

In fact, just a few hundred metres away on the other side of the harbour entrance to hut 224, £215,000 will buy you a two-bedroom detached house with waterfront access.

Mudeford Spit is so remote it can only be accessed by a long walk, a ferry or a ride on the novelty land train.

Laura Lewis, from estate agents Denisons, said: "This is a beautiful beach hut on the harbour side of the spit that really does have it all.

"It is without a doubt one of the nicest beach huts on Hengistbury Head.

"The highest price we've sold beach huts for is about £250,000 and this one is definitely up in the same bracket.

"The high prices often tend to be associated with huts on the sea side of the spit but this one is so lovely that it is just as desirable.

"It's close to the ferry, the restaurant and the toilets, and has stunning views over the harbour. For some people that's more desirable than a hut facing out to sea.

"This hut has running water, a little kitchen that runs off a gas bottle and solar panels to provide electricity.

"It may seem like a lot of money but the market for these beach huts, especially one as nice is this, is huge.

"Since it went on the market we've been inundated with enquiries. People from all walks of life want to own one - some are cash buyers and others are willing to re-mortgage their home.

"It's a reflection of how beautiful and idyllic the location is."
