MUDEFORD lifeboat crew rescued four people from a yacht after it ran aground on Sunday.
The RNLI volunteers launched from the lifeboat station at 12.14pm to a 32 foot yacht Ibis that had decided to try and sit out the bad weather on its passage from Lymington to Poole by heading for Christchurch Harbour.
However, the tidal conditions in the run meant the yacht ran aground.
The volunteer crew rescued everyone on board the yacht and took them ashore. An RNLI spokesperson said: “The crew then returned to tow the vessel into the safety of Christchurch Harbour so they could wait out the worst of the weather before returning to their intended passage.”
