TALENTED youngsters from a Christchurch drama group will be glamming it up for their version of Boogie Nights.

Christchurch Youth in Drama will be putting on the musical at the Regent Centre on Friday and Saturday.

The show features sounds of the Seventies including disco classics, sizzling soul sensations and rock anthems.

Originally written by Jon Conway, Boogie Nights - The Musical premiered in the West End in 1997.

It follows the story of a group of young people whose lives are about to be turned upside down.

The soundtrack includes Blame it on the Boogie, D.I.S.C.O, Shoop Shoop Song, Bridge over Troubled Water, Copacabana, Bye Bye Baby, I Will Survive, Tragedy and YMCA.

Director, Jae Harris, said: "Our production aims to give local young people the chance to take part in a production that develops both dramatic and personal skills.

"In Boogie Nights we bring together those who have participated in live stage performances and those who have never done a school play before.

"This production allows individuals to get out of the experience what they want and allows the audience to share that with them.

"Ticket sales will pay for the costs of the production and Regent Centre, but after that all money raised will go into the drama group to allow us to continue to run it for free.

"If we have really good ticket sales it will also go to Christchurch Activities for Young People to pay for activities for those who cannot afford to do them."

The cast list includes Matthew Bradshaw, Tara Smith, Jess Johnson, Aaron Bradshaw, Marc Harburn and Hollie Porter.

Shows will take place at 2.30pm and 7.30pm on both days. Tickets cost £13.50.
