ROADWORKS have reportedly been causing gridlock in Christchurch today.

It was reported by drivers that much of the town centre was at a standstill, with parts of the one-way system closed because of resurfacing.

Congestion was reported on Wick Lane between St Margaret’s Avenue and Church Street.

Castle Street and Bridge Street were also suffering.

At lunchtime, the congestion appeared to be lessening as the work moved on.
