TELL me more, tell me more. You can see in the new year at the Regent in Christchurch today from 10pm with one of the classic party films of all time – Grease Sing-a-long (PG).

Grease is renowned for great songs, great dance numbers and a great romantic storyline set in small town USA during the fabulous Fifties.

John Travolta excels as the macho young dude who, in between hot rod racing and rock ‘n’ rolling, falls in love with the ultimate girl next door, Olivia Newton John, whilst at summer camp in the sunshine state of California.

What the two lovebirds don’t know is that their holiday romance is about to hit the buffers.

Neither of them realise that they both attend Rydell High School, where Travolta leads the greaser gang called the T. Birds and Newton John is a member of the prim and proper Pink Ladies group.

When they first meet again at Rydell High, she finds that he is not the same guy she fell for on holiday.

Will the inevitable culture, image and personality clash contrive to ruin true love?

Both Grease and its soundtrack proved to be instant hits way back in 1978 and have become evergreen favourites for successive generations of film fans.

The title tune of Grease by Frankie Valli says it all, but there’s many more hits to enjoy, including Summer Nights, Hopelessly Devoted To You, Greased Lightening, Blue Moon, Hound Dog, Rock ‘n’ Roll Is Here To Stay, Tears On My Pillow, You’re The One That I Want and La Bamba.

Even when the final credits of Grease Sing-a-long start to roll, the party is not yet over – because the chimes of Big Ben will be broadcast live by satellite to the big screen at the Regent so that everyone can cheer in 2015.
