A BROTHER and sister who ran 220 miles in memory of their beloved brother raised nearly £10,000.

Supported by Hoburne Holiday parks, Will and Sarah Thomas ran from Cornwall to Milford-on-Sea where they live, in just over a week, tackling full marathon distances on five days.

The challenge was in memory of their brother Dave Thomas.

Dave, 25, a talented film editor with a passion for travel and adventure, died from head injuries after falling from a tree while watching a sunrise last July.

Between the run and the Three Peaks Challenge, completed by friends earlier in the summer, they have raised more than £9,500.

The money will be divided between the Dave Thomas Award for promising film editors at the University of Brighton, where Dave studied, and Headway, the brain injury association.

A huge crowd of family and friends greeted the siblings as they crossed the finish line at Milford-On-Sea Community Centre.

Sarah said: “Days three and four were the toughest; we just ached so much.

“Every evening consisted of ice packs, massage and pain killers. But we had various friends and family members who came to support us along the route – and of course Dave was with us all the way.

“To see all our loved ones cheering at the finish was wonderful.

“It was very emotional and we have been blown away by people’s generosity. It means such a lot.”
