Work to repair the riverbank at Riverlands and Tuckton damaged by the floods will get underway on Monday.

The work will involve replacing the existing timber revetments, which are sloping structures built to support and protect the riverbank, with a new sheet steel piled revetment to prevent any significant erosion in the future.

There will be restricted access along this part of the river for walkers, dogs and some boat owners while the project is carried out.

The £400,000 scheme is expected to be completed by the end of November.

Councillor Lawrence Williams: “This is a very popular area of Bournemouth so we want to make sure that it is maintained and protected for people to enjoy in years to come.”
