THOUSANDS of people are expected to flock to an RNLI fun day in support of the Mudeford lifeboat station.

The major fundraising event for the Christchurch station will take place throughout the day on Sunday, August 3.

It will include a lifeboat and helicopter display, an air display from the Blades Aerobatic team, and the popular raft race.

Last year’s special 50th anniversary event raised more than £28,000 for the station, with around £950 given back to local charities.

Organisers say they want to make this year’s event even bigger, with events starting at 11am.

Other attractions include a duck race for youngsters, the chance to have a look around Poole lifeboat, funfair rides, stalls and sideshows and watersports demonstrations on paddleboards.

The raft race, which includes decorated rafts from community organisations and businesses, will start at 1pm in the Run.

Committee chairman Kim Skinner said: “None of this would be possible without the significant support of local business owners and the many visitors who attend this annual event.”

All proceeds will go to the lifeboat station.
