A MAN has been arrested after a teenager was allegedly assaulted in an ‘unprovoked’ attack in Christchurch.

The assault took place around 7pm on Sunday April 6 along Burton Road near to the junction with Redvers Road in Somerford.

A local 17-year-old boy was allegedly approached by a white man in his twenties who punched and kicked him and then stamped on him.

After the incident the suspect is understood to have walked off in the direction of The Grange School.

Police and the ambulance service were called after the victim made his way to a friend’s house nearby.

The boy sustained bruising and was taken to Royal Bournemouth Hospital.

The suspect is described as between five feet seven inches and six feet tall and of medium build with short blond hair and stubble on his face.

He was wearing a white or cream coloured cardigan, dark coloured trousers – possibly jeans – and white or grey and black Nike trainers.

Detective Constable Sara Butler, said: “This incident appears to have been unprovoked.

“To help with my investigation, I am appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the alleged assault in Burton Road to come forward.

“Anyone with information in relation to this incident should contact Dorset Police in confidence by calling on the non-emergency number 101.”

The 25-year-old Bournemouth man, arrested on suspicion of assault, has been released on bail pending further enquiries.
