COUNCIL health chiefs investigating three cases of food poisoning in Christchurch have eliminated a possible link to a local premises.

Environmental health officers at Christchurch council said a second person reported to have suffered food poisoning tested negative, indicating there was no association with a meal the group ate at a premises in the borough.

Last week the council confirmed it was investigating up to three cases of suspected food poisoning after one person was confirmed with campylobacter – a common type of food poisoning.

Council bosses were notified of the incident on May 3.

The icouncil nvestigations are con-tinuing into the confirmed case.

The Food Standards Agency say Campylobacter is the most common cause of food poisoning in the UK.

It is found mainly in poultry but can also be found in red meat, unpasteurised milk and un-treated water.
