THE victim of an alleged violent assault who is fighting for his life in a specialist hospital unit has been named.
Nick Verron, 25, from Boscombe, suffered stab injuries to the head and his condition in Southampton Hospital’s neurological unit is described as life-threatening.
His boss, David Hamer, has paid tribute to the young business development manager, who was injured in Roumelia Lane, Boscombe in the early hours of Saturday morning.
Mr Verron had been working for Poseidon Telecom Services Ltd in Cobham Road, Ferndown, for a year before the tragedy.
Mr Hamer told the Daily Echo: “He moved to Dorset from the Oxford area and lived in Weymouth for a few months before moving to his flat in Boscombe about six months ago.
“He is just a regular sort of guy who was walking home when this happened – it is terrrible.”
Mr Hamer said his company trades under the franchise of BT Local Business and deals with numerous respected clients.
“Nick is one of the youngest to work here and is one of the best. He is very bright and intelligent and can work with anyone you ask him to,” he added.
Police launched an appeal for information after Mr Verron was injured just before 1.15am.
They urged members of the public to contact them with information about a group of six to eight young people seen in the area at the time of the alleged attack. One of them was riding a bicycle.
Dorset Police can be contacted on 01202 222222 or the public can use the free and anonymous Crimestoppers line on 0800 555 111.
