A DRIVER told police they didn’t have insurance because they’d “run out of money”.
Dorset Police’s No Excuse team stopped the driver on Castle Lane West Sunday during a busy shift across Bournemouth and Poole.
The driver was given six points, handed a £300 fine and had their vehicle taken off the road.
Another driver was caught without insurance on the Dorset Way after they went to overtake the unmarked police vehicle at speed before slowing down and moving back in behind it.
The in car ANPR system picked up the number plate which flagged up as no insurance
When stopped, the woman said she had issues paying the insurance, and further checks revealed that the policy was cancelled due to none payment back in December.
The woman had previously been stopped in September last year for the same offence. She was issued with six points, a £300 fine and her vehicle was taken away. She will also have her licence revoked.
A third vehicle which had no insurance was stopped in Kinson. The driver had previously received a “serious warning” regarding speeding from her insurance company and the vehicle had been fitted with a black box.
The woman had already been given three-strikes from the insurance company and was issued with six points, a £300 fine and her vehicle was seized.
