MOTORISTS are being warned to expect delays again this evening due to a traffic light fault at Blackwater.

The fault on the B3073 was reported this morning and caused delays for drivers travelling from Christchurch.

Engineers thought they had repaired the detector fault, but it transpired this afternoon that there is still an issue with the lights.

Dorset County Council's traffic feed, Travel Dorset, tweeted: "We're sorry to report that despite our thoughts that the detector fault causing delays to westbound traffic this morning has been repaired, we have just been advised that the issue is still apparent.

They continued: "Therefore whilst we continue to try to resolve the fault, we are expecting some delays to occur. A reminder that the issue with the detector fault means that only a few vehicles are able to turn right onto A338 southbound, on a green light before it reverts to red."

There were also reports of issues on the roads in the Ensbury Park area this morning.

Traffic is said to be at a standstill or very slow.

Bournemouth council said it was due to gas works being carried out in Columbia Road and apologised for the delays.

Southern Gas Networks (SGN) will be carrying out the planned work until March 28.
