MORE than 13,000 homes across parts of Bournemouth and Poole were left without power on Thursday evening.

SSE engineers were alerted to a power cut affecting 778 customers in the BH9 and BH3 postcodes at 7.05pm.

At 8.01pm, the power company found a fault at their primary substation that resulted in a further 12,893 customers losing power.

Power was restored to the 12,893 affected within 15 minutes and the remaining 778 customers around Winton and Moordown remained without power until 9.15pm.

SSE said they are still investigating the cause of the fault.

A spokesperson from Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN): “We would like to apologise to our customers for the inconvenience caused yesterday evening and thank them for their patience as our engineers worked to restore their power as quickly and as safely as possible.”
