AN investigation has been launched after the sudden death of a man in Bournemouth.

Officers from Dorset Police and ambulance crews, including two air ambulances, were called to Magna Road, opposite Lea Way, this afternoon.

A spokesman for the force said the death was considered “unexplained”.
“We were called at 1.49pm today after reports of a sudden death of a man aged in his sixties at an address in Magna Road, Bournemouth,” the spokesman said.

“At this time the man’s death is being treated as unexplained. A cordon is in place at the address.

“Enquiries are continuing to establish the cause of the man’s death.”

The victim has not been formally identified.

Neighbours said they knew little of what had transpired earlier this afternoon.

One Magna Road resident told the Echo they saw two police cars and a police motorbike arrive at the scene shortly after the air ambulances - one from Devon and another from Wiltshire as the Dorset service was out on a call elsewhere - landed in a field nearby.

Neighbours said the owner of the property was a man called Mike, thought to be in his mid to late 50s, who lived there alone.

One, who wished to remain anonymous, said: “It is a shame. I have known him for some time and he was a lovely bloke.”

A neighbour said: "It must be something fairly serious to have all these police here."

Several said they had heard the victim was injured after falling from a step ladder.

This evening police cordoned off the front of the property and officers were seen guarding the door.

Crime scene investigators were also seen going in and out of the house.
