A VIOLENT attacker who left his victim with a broken neck and a bleed on the brain has been jailed for five years and five months.

Davide Parra launched a sustained and terrifying attack on a man in his 40s, who also suffered a fractured skull.

Bournemouth Crown Court heard homeless Parra, 44, went out drinking with his victim on April 21.

The pair were staying at St Paul's night shelter in Bournemouth and police were called there just before 6am.

The victim, who has not been named, said he was attacked in Charminster Road, near to the Golden Supermarket.

CCTV footage showed Parra drag his victim into the road before punching him repeatedly. The victim was also kicked in the head.

The victim was taken to hospital and treated for a fractured skull, a bleed on the brain and a broken bone in his neck.

Parra was located in Bournemouth later that morning and was arrested on suspicion of inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent.

Detective Constable Holly Sexton, of Bournemouth CID, said: “Davide Parra subjected his victim to a vicious attack that left him with horrific injuries.

Dorset Police takes this level of violent behaviour extremely seriously and I hope that the sentence imposed by the court sends a message that offenders will be brought to justice.”
