SHOCKING examples of dangerous driving putting lives at risk on Dorset roads have been captured on a dashcam.

The footage reveals disregard for the law and has left law-abiding motorists stunned.

A motorcyclist is seen speeding through a narrow gap between a car and a bus on the busy Wessex Way.

The car driver is overtaking the bus at roughly 50mph and is shocked when the bike roars through the gap between the vehicles.

Another example shows a black Mini approaching the roundabout at the top of Richmond Hill in Bournemouth.

It is positioned in a lane which should take the vehicle left on to Richmond Hill but instead goes right at the roundabout after travelling through red traffic lights.

At the Ashley Heath roundabout a vehicle is seen veering into a right hand lane, as if to travel towards Ringwood, before swerving back into the left hand lane and going straight ahead.

Publication of the footage forms the latest stage in the Daily Echo's campaign against poor driving.

We have been highlighting motorists who drive while using their mobile phones for many years.

The dashcam footage has been provided by Daily Echo readers and we are keen to hear from anyone who has similar footage or experiences.

We showed the footage to police and to Chris Trunwitt, vice chairman of Roadar (RoSPA Advanced Drivers and Riders).

Mr Trunwitt said: "It’s not illegal to filter as long as you haven’t crossed a solid white line or done it approaching a crossing with zig zag lines. Filtering is regarded as safe in slow or stationary traffic and as long as the riders speed isn’t more than 20mph,

"When traffic is at normal speed a pass by a motorcycle is classed as an overtake and this would only be legal to pass on the offside of the vehicle being overtaken as long as it is legal and safe to do so. The emphasis must always be on safety.

"All different modes of transport users blame each other when all it needs is for everyone to be a bit more patient and give each other a little room."

A spokesman for Dorset Police added: "The rider in this clip has clearly put themselves at risk by undertaking such a manoeuvre.

"A collision at the sort of speeds involved here in such close proximity to other vehicles is likely to result in serious injury or even death.

"By riding in this manner, the motorcyclist cannot accurately assess or anticipate how other drivers may react nor can they correctly anticipate the movement of the other vehicles.

"Had any of the vehicles in the clip suddenly swerved in response to something on the road ahead, a distraction from another vehicle, a medical episode or even some sort of sudden mechanical breakdown the outcome of this situation could have been extremely serious.

"The manoeuvre here is reckless, it demonstrates impatience, shows a complete lack of planning, and is likely based on an assumption that as the gap is sufficient for the motorcycle to get through then the manoeuvre is viable."
