A BOURNEMOUTH company created the TV graphics for a new ITV show following the journey of rookie pilots.

Following on from their success in creating motion graphics for shows such as Channel 4’s Lagos to London and feature films such as BBC Films’ Formula One documentary Williams, LoveLove Films were commissioned by ITN to produce the graphics for EasyJet: Inside the Cockpit.

The two-part miniseries focuses on new pilots entering the cockpit for the first time and those piloting a large jet with over a hundred passengers.

Developed by ITN Productions and commissioned by ITV’s head of factual entertainment, Sue Murphy, and ITV factual commissioner Satmohan Panesar, one of the main areas of focus in the series is female pilots.

Statistics have revealed that only five per cent of the world’s professional pilots are women. The series hopes to bring the issue to the audience’s attention, with EasyJet aiming to rectify it and double the number of new female pilots over the next two years.

Working closely with ITN, LoveLove Films’ in-house animators worked on the show’s graphics, which included the title and bumpers.

Animator Dale Molloy said: “ITN sought to use an actual EasyJet plane within the titles. The idea was for the plane to move and reveal the title of the show, and, for that, contrails were added to give the shot more realism and provide a border for the text. The text, ‘Inside the Cockpit’, was designed to be cloud-like as well to keep with the realism theme.”

Managing director and producer at LoveLove Films, Georgina Hurcombe, added: “It’s an absolute pleasure to work with ITN once again. ITN always produce such exciting programmes so we were delighted to be commissioned to provide these TV graphics for such an interesting series. We can’t wait to see the programme on air, excuse the pun.”

Part two of EasyJet: Inside the Cockpit will be shown on ITV 1 at 9pm on Monday, August 21.
