BOURNEMOUTH residents will be among the first to fly to a destination previously unreachable from UK airports.
Bournemouth Airport will be one of the first in the country to offer direct flights to Akureyri in North Iceland.
The newly chartered flights, which will take off in January 2018, are part of a special short holiday package offered by Super Break.

All trips to Akureyri include a Lake Myvatn adventure, the Land of Fire and Ice tour, a visit to the Goddafoss waterfall and the boiling mud pools of Namafjall and a stop at Vogafjos working farm. There is also the opportunity to visit Myvatn nature baths – the ‘Blue Lagoon of the north’ or take part in a snowmobiling experience.
Howard Ebison, commerical director for Bournemouth Airport and MAG Cargo said: “The Northern lights phenomena is really taking off so it’s great to be able to offer our passengers this opportunity. Initial feedback has been really positive. We’re working closely with Super Break to look at longer-term possibilities of expanding the programme already.”
