NEARLY 30,000 residents across Bournemouth had no power overnight after a fault occurred with an underground cable.
The incident occurred at 4.55am at the town's main substation but was fully restored by 5.36am after supply was returned in stages.
When a fault is detected, the network is designed to turn all power off for safety. Only once safety checks are carried out can the power then be restored by the control room team.
We’re sorry for the #PowerCut affecting #BOURNEMOUTH and the surrounding areas. We aim to restore power by 07:00.

A spokesman for Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks said the firm are investigating the cause of the fault.
“We would like to apologise to our customers in Bournemouth who were affected by the short power cut earlier this morning, and assure them that our staff did everything they could to restore supplies as safely and as quickly as possible,” he added.
