BOURNEMOUTH is set to be the most visited town in the UK this weekend, at least according to transport firm National Express.

The UK’s largest coach operator has revealed advanced coach bookings figures showing people are set to descend on the town in droves, with passenger arrivals up nine per cent compared with last year.

And while the advance forecast suggests visitors can expect cloudy conditions, more sunshine is on the way next week and it could make an early appearance.

Milton Keynes takes second place, with Cheltenham in third and Poole taking the fourth spot on the list. Another local destination, Ringwood, is set to be the seventh most visited town.

National Express boss Chris Hardy said: “We all love a long Bank Holiday weekend and our advanced bookings reveal Bournemouth is a real tourist hotspot.

"It seems people are really planning on making the most of the extra day this weekend by exploring the great towns of the UK."
