POLICE in Dorset have thanked residents for their support following the death of an officer in the Westminster terror attack.
Officers have received well-wishes and messages of support from Dorset residents following the tragic incident in the capital on Wednesday.
Flowers and a card were even delivered to Poole police station on Thursday morning.
Posting their thanks on Facebook, Dorset Traffic officers said: "The death of a colleague effects every serving or retired police officer and police staff in the UK so we are touched to have had this card and a bunch of flowers brought into Poole Police Station this morning. Thank you."
The message on the card read: "To the wonderful police force. On grateful acknowledgement of the continuous brave work your colleagues nationwide undertake to help and keep us safe. God bless you all. We are so sorry for the loss of your colleague at Westminster."
It was signed "residents of Poole."
And on Twitter, the Dorset Police Dogs account also thanked people for their messages.
"Thank you to the driver of a blue BMW who stopped next to my dog van and passed on his thanks to all police officers."
And: "Lovely lady came over to my van whilst I was fuelling and gave me a hug. The support for police today has been outstanding."
