VISITORS to Bournemouth are sure to be rabbiting on about a fun event this Easter.

The town is launching an interactive Golden Easter Bunny Hunt aimed at drawing visitors and boosting local business.

Bournemouth Coastal Business Improvement District (BID) has joined with businesses to launch the #LoveBournemouthBunnies competition.

From now until April 18, 10 golden bunnies will be moving around different businesses in the coastal area. They will hop between businesses every three days in an effort to highlight the variety of seaside shops, hotels and restaurants on offer to visitors.

To take part in the competition, shoppers have to locate the bunnies and take selfies with them, which they need to share using the #LoveBournemouthBunnies hashtag. Shoppers will then win a surprise gift from the hosting business.

Everyone who takes a selfie will also be entered into a main draw with the chance to win one of an exciting range of prizes, including afternoon tea, an overnight stay with breakfast for two, dinner for two and a spa treatment in a renowned Bournemouth hotel.

Clues will be left on the #LoveBournemouthBunnies social media pages, while hints and tips on bunny locations can be found on the web pages of associated businesses.

Stefan Krause, Bournemouth Coastal BID manager, said: “Providing a family friendly activity, we will be bringing more people into the local area over Easter. With the #LoveBournemouthBunnies competition now in full swing, make sure you watch out for clues and hints on social media. Get exploring, find the golden bunnies and win some amazing prizes.”

Paul Clarke, chairman of Bournemouth Coastal BID and general manager of Bournemouth Hallmark Hotels, said: “Bournemouth Coastal Businesses want to put on fun events and activities over Easter to improve opportunities for businesses in the area.

“We are opening the Golden Easter Bunny Hunt with the chance to win a host of excellent prizes, from overnight stay and spa treatments in renowned Bournemouth Hotels, family ticket for RockReef and afternoon tea in the Miramar Hotel, we hope this will get more shoppers and customers exploring the local area.’’

The Coastal BID is running the campaign in association with business in Westbourne, West Cliff, East Cliff, Boscombe, Pier Approach, Pokesdown, Tuckton, Southbourne, and Hengistbury Head.
