NEWS that Five Guys will be opening in Bournemouth's BH2 development sent ripples of excitement through the burger-eating public.

But don't get too excited - it won't be open until the summer.

The American burger joint has a cult following and when it opens its doors in Bournemouth later this year it will create 40 new jobs and hold almost 100 people.

Until then a Five Guys spokesman has provided a brief history of the business along with some fun facts to keep us interested.

Five Guys was established in Virginia in 1986 by the Murrell family

The first UK restaurant opened in Covent Garden on July 4 2013

The business does not have freezers, microwaves or can openers in any of its restaurants

Its burgers are grilled to order. Fries are hand cut each morning and cooked in peanut oil

All ingredients are sourced locally – Five Guys prides itself on the freshness and quality of its ingredients

Customers can find out which farm the beef and potatoes have come from by checking out the restaurant’s notice board
