A PAIR of Cherries star Jack Wilshere's football boots are to be auctioned for a second time to raise funds for charity.

Midfielder Wilshere, 25, is currently on loan to AFC Bournemouth from Arsenal, and also plays for England.

He originally donated a pair of autographed Nike boots for use in a St John Ambulance (SJA) silent auction at its Everyday Heroes award ceremony in September.

The footwear reportedly raised a tidy sum on the night, but now their new owner has anonymously handed the footwear in at SJA’s training centre in Poole, Dorset, and asked that they be sold again, to make even more money for the charity.

"It’s an extraordinarily generous gesture," said the charity's community fundraising co-ordinator Kevin Dickens, who collected the boots from Discovery Court.

"Our donor is publicity-shy and has asked to stay out of the limelight, but I was delighted to meet him and say thank you for his kindness in person.

"I know how much he values the work our volunteers do, week in, week out, providing first aid cover at events all over England - including hundreds of football matches - and he has huge respect for the training we provide in life saving skills, in the classroom and the workplace.

"These signed boots from one of the country’s most talented young footballers will make a fantastic addition to any football fan’s collection, and it’s great news that this donation will benefit St John Ambulance all over again."

The online auction at www.givergy.com/listing/st-john-ambulance/signed-jack-wilshere-football-boots ends at 9pm on Monday, February 27.
