A VET receptionist has condemned the vandals who smashed the surgery’s window twice in one month.

Carrie Arnull, who works at The Pet Practice in Kinson Road, Bournemouth, said it was lucky no animals were hurt after glass bottles were thrown at the window on Monday night.

It had only been replaced the previous Friday following a similar incident.

Carrie and her colleagues arrived at the practice on Tuesday morning to discover the broken window, with a number of beer bottles strewn across the car park.

They contacted the police who are in the process of checking CCTV from nearby Tesco Express, where it is believed the group of vandals purchased the beer from before breaking the window.

Carrie said: “Someone heard a bang at around 9pm and saw a big group of boys on bikes cycle off up the road

“We only had the new window fitted last week, and now the same thing has happened again.

“It’s lucky we didn’t have any animals staying that night as a few days prior we had a cat and a dog in overnight.

“The smashed window is in the main prep room where we do all the operations and where the animals are kept. They also tried to damage the window facing the waiting room as well.

“I think the people who did this just thought it was a fun thing to do – I don’t think they were trying to break in,” she added.

The vet practice was unable to open the following day. Staff from Pets Corner next door helped the staff clear up the broken glass and beer bottles.

Carrie said there was kebab strewn across the car park as well.

The surgery was able to open as normal on Thursday, but it has had to board up the window until a new one can be fitted once more.

“Everyone around us has got CCTV cameras so we’re hoping to find out who did this. We’re going to get our own CCTV cameras after this as well,” Carrie said.

“I’ve worked here for six years and nothing like this has ever happened until recently.

“Everyone’s feeling a little bit scared now as we’re not sure if we’re being targeted or whether it’s just teenagers being stupid. If one of us had been stood by the window, it could have been a different story.”
