FROM the moment Beverley Knight stepped onto the stage of Bournemouth's Pavilion, it was clear this was going to be a good evening.

It took the packed theatre approximately three seconds to get to their feet, where they remained for the majority of the show.

It was the soul diva's first time playing Bournemouth in her 20-year plus career, but the town is clearly not without many of her loyal fans, as each song was met with a rousing reception.

Knight showcased a number of new tunes from her latest album, Soulsville, as well as many of her top hits, including Gold - which proved somewhat emotional for her - Made It Back, Shoulda Woulda Coulda and Greatest Day. But the diverse audience reserved their rowdiest approval for one of her 90s classics - Flavour Of The Old School.

There were tributes to her idol Prince, as well as Earth, Wind and Fire's Maurice White, plus an encore featuring hits from her time in West End shows The Bodyguard and Memphis, and foot-stomping versions of I'm Every Woman, followed by Come As You Are to finish.

Knight packed a lot into her flawless, high energy set - and it was clear both she and the audience enjoyed every single minute.
