RUNNING enthusiast David Smith has crossed the Scottish border in his epic challenge to run from Bournemouth to Glasgow.

David, who lives in Westbourne, set off on his epic journey of running more than 500 miles in 21 days just two weeks ago.

Since then he has been running around 31 miles a day - more than a marathon.

After crossing into Scotland yesterday the 49-year-old has around 100 miles to go before he reaches George Square in Glasgow on Saturday.

The last part of his journey includes a quick diversion via children's hospices in Kinross and Loch Lomond to visit some of the youngsters he is raising money for as he continues to fundraise for Forest Holme Hospice in Poole and Children's Hospice Association Scotland (CHAS).

So far David has had only one major issue on his mammoth challenge - despite having no accommodation booked for any part of his journey.

About 20 miles before Darlington in the North East of England his running shoes fell apart and tweeted a picture of his trainers with the caption: "I have a drama. Good I like a drama.Plan? Run north 20 miles to Darlington, replace and plough on."

After getting them replaced, David was back on the road.
