BOURNEMOUTH’S buses may be yellow but one of them is being dedicated to the boys in red and black.

An AFC Bournemouth bus is one of two themed vehicles which have taken to the streets.

Yellow Buses has decorated the single decker with photos from the Cherries’ historic first season in the Premier League.

Another themed vehicle, the History Bus, is decked out with pictures of the town’s transport company from 1902 to 2016.

The idea was inspired by the Gallery Bus which has been carrying passengers and displaying artwork for more than a year. And all three themed buses will have poets travelling around them, composing verse to be displayed inside yet another vehicle.

Jenni Wilkinson, Yellows’ head of marketing and customer excellence, said: “Our Gallery Bus was so popular with our passengers that we decided to enter more themed vehicles into our fleet.

“We are one of the largest employers in the conurbation and have been for a very long time, and we wanted to share our history.

“The photographs on the History Bus are incredibly popular and passengers love looking at them.

“Inside the bus it shows the development of the transport system through the years.

“For some the pictures are a nostalgic look at periods they remember and for others they are a fascinating look at a previous era.

“Because we are an iconic local company with a long history we had to do something to celebrate the Cherries’ promotion to the Premier League.

“Yellows take an awful lot of people to games at the Vitality Stadium and we decided to theme a bus with photos of the team and the fans. It is already very popular.

“We have also partnered with the club to help take safety lessons into primary schools with the help of Cherries’ star Dan Gosling.

“All our themed buses run on various routes across the conurbation and more will be introduced.”

Yellow Buses operates 137 buses and 18 coaches, carrying more than 15million passengers a year over nearly five million miles.
