WOULD you let your children live in these conditions?

That is the message from Bournemouth man Bradley Moss, with month-old daughter Ezmai, who says he has lived in a mouldy flat for the last year.

He says his ongoing complaints about his Winton home have been largely ignored by the housing association from whom he lets.

Property managers Spectrum Housing Group have not done enough to help his family aside from pushing a self-help leaflet through their door, he claims, despite informing them his newborn is unwell.

Since her birth Ezmai has had to take antibiotics because of a cough which a social worker reportedly told Bradley has probably been made worse by the mould.

Spectrum said they fixed broken seals to the windows to try and help with the problem. They sent a surveyor yesterday afternoon who advised Bradley to call environmental heath, he said. The family also installed a dehumidifier on the recommendation of the housing group.

But Bradley claims it’s of little help and says they’ve had to live without heating for fear of making the situation worse. It means Bradley, his partner, her 14-month-old, and Ezmai are living there and freezing, he said.

To make matters worse window-fitter Bradley is out of work because he had a tumour removed from his leg a fortnight ago. He struggles to walk and can’t try and fix the problem.

“It’s quite a shock for them to just stick a leaflet through the door,” he said. “There are certain moulds that you’re not allowed to touch and we’ve got it growing from our windows and through the walls.

“I couldn’t care less about my health but it’s about my family. Either sort it out or move us because they can’t expect us to stay here with two children. It’s not nice, especially when Ezmai’s not well. It’s not fair because there’s nothing we can do. It’s a struggle. It’s driving me insane. It’s the worst I’ve ever seen anywhere.”

A spokesperson for Spectrum said: “We identified that some of the UPVC windows were draughty due to broken seals and carried out remedial works on January 20 by fitting new gaskets, pinch wedges and adjusting the hinges. We are sorry to hear Mr Moss is unhappy with the repairs.”
