YOUNGSTERS in the conurbation have been hit by another price increase for using the bus.
Yellow Buses has upped the cost of its child 30-day pass from £35 to £40 - roughly a 14 per cent increase.
The price increase came into force at the start of the month and will affect youngsters aged between five and 19.
Jenni Wilkinson, Yellow Buses’ head of marketing, said: “Before this fare increase our ticket prices hadn’t gone up since January 2014.
“Although oil prices rose during this time - before the most recent drop - we didn’t pass on any of those increases.
“Fuel isn’t the only cost to the business - there are other overheads that have risen significantly.
“We believe there are some good news stories as not all our fares have gone up. There are benefits on the family tickets which are now network wide and with the promotion on the Route 1 weekly pass.
“We feel that a 30-day child pass at £40 represents great value, working out at £1.34 a day.”
