WHEN you think of comedian Pater Kay the first thing that comes to mind probably isn’t Zumba.

In fact it’s probably the very last thing that comes to mind.

Well that’s all about to change as he prepares to make his dancing debut in Bournemouth with a group of over 50s from Christchurch.

Zumba Gold instructor Alison Davies, 53, and her Zumba ladies have been handpicked by the award winning entertainer to join him on stage at the BIC tomorrow night.

“I got a phone call about two weeks ago from Peter’s show director asking us if we would like to take perform at his show in Bournemouth,” said Alison, who has been an instructor with Pure Fitness Gold for five years.

“Being a northerner myself I am a huge Peter Kay fan so of course said yes straight away.

“We have about 400 ladies who take part in our classes every week and I was told I had to pick 14 to take part so that was probably the toughest part.”

For Alison, who lives in Burton with husband Paul and their two daughters, this meant having to leave her own 77-year-old mother Pam Wyatt out of the line-up.

“I picked the ladies who help me out at the front of my classes. I’m sure mum doesn’t mind as she’s still coming along to watch the show anyway,” added Alison.

The ladies, whose ages range from 48 to 79, will be performing one of their own routines to global hit Uptown Funk and Sax by Fleur East.

They will then be joining Peter Kay for the finale number which will be performed to Bucks Fizz number one Eurovision sensation Making Your Mind Up.

“We’ve been working with the choreographer for a couple of weeks now and will have our final rehearsal with Peter tomorrow afternoon,” said Alison.

“There should be a great bit at the end when Peter whips one of our skirts off for the finale, but we don’t know which lucky lady has been chosen yet.”

Peter Kay’s, Dance For Life, is a three-hour dance-a-thon which is taking place across seven Saturday nights at seven different arenas across the UK to raise money for Cancer Research UK.

The Bournemouth show sold out on the first day.

But despite the sold out crowds Alison isn’t nervous about the performance.

“Honestly I think I’m more excited about getting the chance to meet Peter Kay and getting his autograph,” she added.
