FIFTEEN properties along Winton’s Wimborne Road, including a number of traders, are currently without power.

Scottish Southern Electricity engineers are on site working to rectify the problem and restore power, however some retailers have been unable to open up to the public.

Roz Rose, of Roses of Bournemouth jewellers, Wimborne Road, told the Echo: "Just before Christmas, for at least the past three years, the power goes out in Winton.

"We think it might be because of the Christmas lights but the electricity board don't seem to think so."

The jeweller said it looked like one side of Wimborne Road was without power when she arrived to open the shop with her husband on Tuesday morning.

She said: ""We couldn't open up our shop because we have electric shutters. Quite a few of the shops were out and everyone was really annoyed about it."

A Scottish Southern Electric spokesman confirmed: "There are 15 properties without power on Wimborne Road, and the power went off at 8.20 this morning.

"At the moment engineers are on site trying to rectify the problem, but they are still trying to establish the cause at this stage."
