A WOMAN was airlifted to hospital with pelvic injuries after a collision involving a car on a private driveway in Poole.

The incident, involving the pedestrian, happened on the driveway of a property on Constitution Hill Road, which was called into the emergency services at 10.44am yesterday.

Fire crews, ambulance staff and police officers attended the scene and the woman, who is not thought to have suffered life-threatening injuries, was airlifted to Southampton General Hospital for emergency treatment.

A Dorset Police spokesman told the Echo: "We were called at 10.44am to reports of a collision between a vehicle and a pedestrian on Constitution Hill Road, Poole."

Meanwhile, a Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance spokesman confirmed that the woman had suffered pelvic injuries as a result of the incident.

They added that the air ambulance landed in the field at the Ocean Academy, which is based just a short distance away from the scene and was witnessed taking off at 12.07pm.

Paramedics had given the woman treatment at the scene before she was airlifted to hospital.

A neighbour, who asked not to be named, said: "The lady was trapped under the car in the driveway. I happened to hear somebody saying 'Please help me. I'm trapped.' There was a young gentleman who came over to tell me that the lady was trapped, so I rang 999."

Police cars could be seen further along the road as they supervised the area to ensure that the helicopter was able to safely land and then to transport the casualty to hospital.
