BOURNEMOUTH Air Festival boosted passenger numbers on Morebus services by 33 per cent, the company said.

The operator ran extra buses and called in additional drivers to cope with the demand.

Morebus area manager Adam Keen said: “We ran extra buses on our busiest services into Bournemouth, running 36 additional vehicles to and from the air festival over the course of the four days. This meant adding additional drivers to run more buses throughout the day and night.

“It’s been a tremendous effort from our team, which included full-time, part-time and extra local casual staff who all worked together to ensure nobody was left behind.

“All of the busiest bus stops were manned with supervisors so that we could get buses loaded more quickly – and of course they were on hand to answer questions from the public who are not regular bus users.”

He said the company had worked with air festival organisers and Bournemouth Borough Council to prepare for the event.

“This was an excellent opportunity for us to showcase our buses and all the facilities we have to offer - including free WiFi services and USB charging points,” he added.
