ARMED police cordoned off a property in Turlin Moor after reports of a sexual assault in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Officers had been told there may be a gun in the property so set up the cordon to "enable officers to deal with the situation and make their enquiries while keeping the public safe."

They were called to Fitzworth Avenue at 1.19am. A spokesman said the alleged assault victim was able to leave the property and did not sustain any injuries during the incident.

A 20-year-old man from Poole was arrested on suspicion of possessing an air weapon and was released on police bail until the end of October pending further enquiries.
