A YOUNG child airlifted to hospital after falling from a tree during the Bournemouth Air Festival did not suffer life-threatening injuries, Dorset Police have confirmed.
Paramedics, police and the air ambulance attended the incident, near Fisherman's Walk, Southbourne, just after 3.10pm on Saturday.
A Dorset Police spokesman told the Echo yesterday: "We were called to reports a child had fallen out of the tree and impaled his leg on a stick.
"He was airlifted to Southampton General Hospital."
Festival flying was suspended for a short period to allow the Dorset & Somerset Air Ambulance to safely land at the scene.
Witnesses said the young boy had climbed a tree to get a better view of the air festival displays when he slipped and fell.
