BOURNEMOUTH’S entertainment chiefs had all bases covered when they organised two free family fun days over the weekend.

Taking no chances with the weather there were indoor and outdoor activities on both days with the fun starting on Saturday morning at the Pavilion terrace.

Visitors got the chance to watch Punch and Judy shows, dance along to a DJ in Pavilion Dance or take part in theatre workshops.

There was also a range of stalls, clowning and balloon modelling and children’s entertainers.

Visitor Janet Burke from Oxford said: “My children are really enjoying it here. One of the main reasons we come to Bournemouth is because there are so many things to keep the children amused.

“They have had their faces painted and are also learning how to mime with the theatre people.”

On Sunday the fun moved to the Littledown Centre where indoor displays in the main hall included gymnastics, singing, acting and dance.

Children enjoyed a bouncy castle, go karts, zorbing and face painting and more unusual activities included dream catcher making, bush craft skills, stilt walking and bungee trampolines.

Musical entertainment came in the form of Heart FM and live bands.

Mike Lyons, BH Live’s Director of Leisure Facilities said: “It has been fantastic to see over 5,000 local people enjoying the first Littledown Family Fun Day held in the Littledown Centre and surrounding parkland.

“The event has been a huge success and I was extremely pleased to see so many adults, children and families having a great time in the sunshine. There was a wide range of activities and something for all ages and abilities including go-karting, dance, gymnastics and martial arts displays. With such a great culinary offer, live music and a fun fair it really made the day special.”
